Posting on Social Media is not an exact science. It is all about having more chances of reaching a wider audience. However, the solution of the equation can be more complex when it comes to YouTube.
Actually, as far as reaching the audience you want is concerned, a YouTuber needs to keep in mind the hour, the day, and even the time of the year. The number of people who are online changes according to the month. This, of course, without considering the content itself, because if it is not good, no ‘better time’ to post will do.
For instance, the worst time of the year to post on YouTube is Christmas and New Year’s Eve, because the number of people who are on YouTube drops significantly. Sundays seem to be the least efficient day to post except in autumn.
But let’s try to keep this more straight forward, shall we? 🙂 so, what is considered to be the ‘best time’ to publish on YouTube?
- Monday-Wednesday: 2pm to 4pm
- Thursday-Friday: 12pm to 3pm
- Saturday-Sunday: 9am-11 am
The most efficient days to publish a video (including the weekends) are from Thursday to Saturday. These are the days where the number of viewers online goes above average.
Regarding releasing videos, the worst time of the year seems to be the Christmas time, while the most popular months are May and June. Apart from that, you should receive good results by releasing videos from Thursdays to Saturdays.
However, there’s a catch:
Independently of what statistics show, there’s no one better than you to know when exactly to post, because you know your audience. Besides of studying their preferences on content, study when they seem to be online the most as well. Statistics also show that, for example, followers located in colder countries tend to me more online on the weekends when compared to followers based in warmer countries, but only you can check if this and other statistics apply to your audience.
Keep your eyes wide open and pay attention to that 🙂
Also, you have to consider that if you want to become a social media influencer, you eventually have to release videos regularly, even in the least ‘popular’ days.
OK, so is there a best time to post on YouTube? Yes, there may be. What I can say is that these statistics may help you reach a bigger audience, but it is important for you to realize when your audience seems to be more online.
